First prototype, start of development


Prototype

I've started the development with a protoype to experiment with features and overall implement important parts of the game without getting distracted by modelling the final level modells or polishing an unfinished game.

Priorities

The priorities in the prototype are:

  1. ability to scan environment
    1. This will be important for clues. Eg. clue about how to get through an obstacle, what is needed. Since I want this game to be a metroidvania, I want this feature to work asap.
  2. Interacting with environment
    1. Doors, pickable powerups...etc. I want a solid system for this to work.
  3. Some experiment with lighting and avoid modelling or creating stuff that's not important
    1. The game will be dark and feature a flashlight. I want to get an impression about what lighting or overall what "first impression" from the view of a player is the best and sets the best atmosphere before building the levels.
  4. Shooting, using powers like double jumpp
  5. Monsters
  6. Basic HP, ammo system
  7. changable ammo types
  8. Getting from one map to another

Current Status

Some of the features are starting to work, but only small steps were made in each direction

Some examples are the scanner - buggy..., the shooting - only animation now and some interaction with the door and lighting for some athmosphere.
